Summary:

The Process General Foreman optimizes salt processing, hoisting, and barge loading in the mine through the supervision and control of the process plant, barge loading system, and process employees, working within the constraints of production, maintenance, logistics, and sales plans. The Process General Foreman will assist management to ensure production targets are achieved and product specifications are met, by promoting continuous improvement and driving ongoing change in levels of safety, productivity, cost, and quality.

  • Strong commitment to safety, that drives desire to focus on improving safety in all aspects of job responsibilities
  • Adhere to and strive for improving regulatory compliance with state and federal regulatory entities
  • Ensure all personnel know and follow the company’s policies, procedures, and standards
  • Ensure processing plant systems are operating within design specifications
  • Ensure customer specifications are met by monitoring product quality and system performance
  • Provide technical and leadership support to the processing team supervisors
  • Continuously improve the skills and knowledge of the operators and supervisors to optimize plant performance
  • Ensure that process plant production targets are achieved through effective supervision of processing personnel and effective partnership with production, maintenance, and technical leadership
  • Ensure effective planning, organization, and allocation of resources on each shift
  • Effectively plan processing plant operating schedule; balancing production, maintenance, logistics, and sales plans
  • Provide clear expectations on performance compliance through setting objectives and KPIs.
  • Ensure ongoing effective people management of staff by setting clear performance objectives, providing regular feedback, and development through training of employees
  • Consistently hold team leaders accountable
  • Contribute to cost efficiency of the department through monitoring and controlling usage of stores items, minimizing waste, ensuring that equipment is operated efficiently, ensuring employees are fully informed of duties, and continuously looking for process improvements and cost reduction opportunities.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in a technical field, or a minimum of ten (10) years progressive experience in the field of underground mining or plant operations
    • At least three (3) years in a supervisory position. Preferably underground supervisory experience
    • Degree in Mining, Mineral Processing, or other related engineering preferred
  • Strong experience with MSHA, safety, and health in the mining industry with a demonstrable track record of delivering safety results in an underground mining environment
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in processing plants with extensive knowledge in:
    • Screening systems
    • Crushing systems
    • Conveying systems
    • Hoisting systems
    • Barge loading systems will be a plus.
