The company is scheduled to commence production at its Iron Bridge magnetite mine in late-2022.

Iron Bridge is Fortescue's US$3.6 billion project, set to deliver 22mtpa of high grade 67% Fe magnetite concentrate product. Located near Marble Bar in the East Pilbara with its own private airstrip for access, the mine will deliver an innovative process design and industry-leading energy efficient operation.

Shutdown Safety Specialist - EOI

Work Location: Fortescue's Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.

Roster: Initially seconded to the Commissioning phase of the project on 2/1 roster and then transition 4/3 for operations but be flexible with Shutdown requirements.

Role Overview:

We are currently seeking expressions of interests from Safety professionals to take the role as Shutdown Safety Specialist.

Reporting to the Superintendent Health and Safety, you will be responsible for assisting with the improvement, implementation, and planning of Safety Management Systems in the Shutdown environment and working on continual improvement and effective implementation of project work in a dynamic mining operation. Consulting with key stakeholders on the development, implementation and improvement of the Health and Safety programmes and systems, you will foster strong relationships with our Contracting partners and ensure alignment with Fortescue Health and Safety systems

Your role will also see yourself coach and mentor leaders and peers in safety excellence whilst ensure risk management processes are in place for the monitoring and reduction of health and safety risks

Key responsibilities include:

  • Complete quality data analysis to understand current trending and focus areas
  • Assist in the development of supporting material for the effective implementation of health and safety systems
  • Provide support and guidance in the investigation of incidents as required
  • Assist with maintaining accurate records and utilisation of Fortescue's Business Management System (BMS) for recording Health and Safety data
  • Conduct incident investigations, particular ICAM

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Relevant Occupational Health & Safety and risk management experience and qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in Health and Safety and / or mining
  • Previous experience in a safety or operational role on a mine site would be highly regarded
  • Experience in data analysis, trending & reporting would be highly regarded
  • Experience in contractor management would be highly regarded
  • Experience in project management would be highly regarded
