Operations near and far

Our Cadia site is located in Central West New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional town of Orange and three hours' drive from Sydney. Employees reside in the varied accommodation options in Orange, with the surrounding winery and national park areas to enjoy.

Employees have access to the area's wide range of amenities, including a prominent health sector, excellent educational facilities, shopping, transport, and other services such as childcare.

Who we're looking for

Reporting to the Supervisor - UG Mine Development, you will play a critical role in the safe and productive charging and firing of underground development headings, underground loader operations and provide leave coverage for jumbo fleet. You may also be required to carry out additional tasks such as mine services work, service checks and minor maintenance as required.

Key deliverables include, but not limited to:
  • Charging of development faces in a safe and efficient manner
  • Bogging of development faces in a safe and efficient manner
  • A strong attitude and commitment to workplace health and safety, aligning with Newcrest's safety culture, values and behaviours
  • Safe storage and handling of explosives that meet the requirements of the regulations and site standards
  • Responsible for achieving daily, monthly, and yearly budget and schedule outcomes

To be considered applicants require the following skills and experience:
  • Proven experience in charging development headings and sound knowledge of underground metalliferous mining
  • Current NSW Explosives Licence (BEUL) & Unsupervised Handling Licence
  • Proven experience in bogging development headings
  • Demonstrated ability to provide coverage to jumbo fleet
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
  • Proactive hazard and risk awareness
  • Demonstrated ability to have the courage to speak up when critical controls are not adequate

You will possess a passion and drive to ensure high safety standards, be team oriented, as demonstrated by your excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Previous underground mining experience in haulage, nippering and service crew will be highly regarded.

Please note: This is a residential role. You will be required to work a 7 days on/7 off roster (12-hours per day, Thursday - Wednesday (day & night rotation).
