About the role

We are looking for an Project Engineer - Production Support focused on supporting Mine Operations. The successful applicant will ensure that safe practices are followed, build business case justification for capital projects, manage contractors, budgets, and inventory..

This role is a great opportunity to interact with vendors, contractors, and operational leaders to help the Mine deliver to plan and budget. Reporting to the Manager - Mine Scheduling and Projects, you will be:
  • Implementing best practices for contractor management, ensuring external vendors are safe and compliant in all safety systems
  • Identifying and solving complex problems and risks that have the potential to impact the Mine plan and budget
  • Building justification for capital expenditures and presenting to Senior Leadership for approval
  • Fostering external relationships to strengthen and sustain competitive advantage
  • Maintaining billing and budget for Mine consumables
  • Delivering KPI's and reporting showing usage and spend
  • Engaging with varied stakeholder while leading commissioning of rental and purchased equipment
  • Interfacing with Operational Leaders to identify new and unique solutions to complex problems

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Experience in Mining, Asset Management, and cost strategies and best practices
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to work and communicate with leaders, peers, vendors, employees, and shared services
  • Ability to adapt to changing business conditions and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Initiate and implement change with commitment and drive
  • Safety conscious approach to work and be self-motivated to deliver results
  • Computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel & SAP

It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • Experience in the Mining Industry
  • Knowledge of tire strategies and best practices

Our Kennecott mine is a world-class, fully integrated copper mining operation, including a concentrator, smelter and refinery, located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States. We produce copper, precious metals including gold and silver, molybdenum and sulfuric acid. Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich ore body of the Bingham Canyon Mine since 1903 and is one of the top producing mines in the world, comprising approximately 11 percent of U.S. annual copper production.
