The company owns and operates the Ekati Diamond Mine. The company also holds a controlling interest in the Lac de Gras Diamond Project. The Ekati Diamond Mine and the Lac de Gras Diamond Project are located in Canada's Northwest Territories. In addition to its mining and exploration operations, Arctic has offices in Canada and Belgium.
Position Overview
As a member of the Supply Chain Team, reporting to the Manager, SCM Business Support, the Procurement Specialist is responsible for ensuring operational procurement of goods in a timely manner.
The Procurement Specialist will assist internal customers with understanding and following procurement processes and policies and apply effective supply management and sourcing techniques. The successful candidate will integrate and support the Ekati Procurement processes while maintaining a high degree of internal customer satisfaction.
The successful candidate will be a detail oriented, self-motivated professional, with superior communication and customer service skills with the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers. They will also have exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information with tact and diplomacy and, most importantly, be a strong team player.
This position is a nine-month fixed term contract working two (2) weeks on, two (2) weeks off rotation at the Ekati mine site.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Transactional purchasing including processing Purchase Requisitions, issuing Request for Quotations, and creating, maintaining, and expediting Purchase Orders.
- Perform the appropriate checks in line with Plan to Pay requirements before proceeding with a purchase.
- Provides a high level of procurement support to maintenance and operations. Includes a strong working knowledge of the plant's requirements.
- Follow-up on outstanding Purchase Requisitions to ensure requirements and/or alternatives are identified and procured in a timely manner.
- Track orders to ensure timely delivery and provide daily updates on all urgent site-based requirements.
- Work with stakeholders to resolve any issues and discrepancies.
- Relationship building - meet regularly with key stakeholders (end users, Warehouse, etc.).
- Assist internal customers with compliance to Procurement procedures and drive process governance.
- Drive costs down by negotiating discounts and delivery terms and issuing multiple RFQs to different suppliers.
- Promote a cost-conscious culture throughout the business.
- Work with the Inventory Analysts to support the replenishment process.
- Participate in the inventory optimization program and support business in reducing obsolete and surplus inventory.
- Supporting the transactional requirement of the returning of surplus of obsolete inventory
- Support with any urgent material master creation requests during weekends.
- Support and ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, Environment, and Company policies.
- Take initiative and be proactive in completing Purchasing team tasks.
- Meeting KPIs set by the business, supporting business in reaching department and business goals
- Other supply chain related duties and special projects, as assigned including but not limited to supporting the annual Winter Road program.
Education/Experience
- Post-Secondary education in a related discipline (i.e. Business, Finance, etc.).
- Previous procurement experience, preferably in a mining or industrial setting.
- Previous procurement experience for mobile mining equipment parts would be considered as an advantage.
- Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation would be considered an asset.
- Experience with SAP would be considered an asset.
- Proficiency with key office software tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
- Experience working in the mining industry, northern Canada, and an understanding of the northern regulatory environment is preferred
