Dimensions

Reporting to the Human Resources Superintendent, the Human Resources Business Partner serves as the main point of contact for employees and managers, providing guidance on the people management aspects of the business and ensuring HR initiatives and deliverables are aligned with the site, regional and global strategy maps

Purpose

As an advisor at the mine sites in the Timmins camp, the Human Resources Business Partner will use strong project and people management skills to accomplish and build on the following:

  • Champion Inclusion and Diversity initiatives at the mine sites in partnership with the regional and site leadership team. Inclusion and Diversity is mission-critical to the success of Porcupine Gold Mines and your contribution to these initiatives is key to success
  • Support the implementation of the new HR operating model and key regional-led projects to improve HR processes and procedures at the Dome, Hoyle and Borden mine sites. As you do so, you will quickly learn that Newmont values operational excellence and continuous improvement
  • Coach and mentor our site supervisors as we embark on a journey to improve our site-led people management program standards at the mine sites
  • Build and maintain relationships of trust with the union members to foster high quality union relations as we respect the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)


Essential Duties

  • Collaborate in the development, implementation and updating of the organization's human resources policies, procedures, and systems
  • Support the region and site with the administration of all human resources programs at the mine sites
  • Support workforce planning at the mine sites
  • Advise and support supervisors with the interpretation and administration of the organization's HR policies and procedures
  • Advise and support supervisors with labour relations as well as employee relations challenges
  • Champion and promote the company's vision, values, and objectives
  • Partner closely with other regional and site-based teams and departments, such as Operations, Finance, Technical Services etc.
  • Ensuring compliance to the CBA and providing the necessary support while resolving labour relations concerns
  • Participate in the planning stages for the collective bargaining process
  • Participate in return to work, modified work and the accommodation processes and ensure compliance to their standards
  • Provide day-to-day HR solutions, counsel, and support to the business
  • Assist hiring managers to identify recruitment needs and provide support during the recruitment process
  • Partner with Regional Talent Acquisition Team to drive the recruitment process at the site
  • Partner with the HR Service Center to execute HR programs and services.
  • Execute the onboarding process at site for new hires including first-day orientation
  • Conduct HR investigations independently as follow-up to allegations of misconduct, policy, and ethical violations.
  • Facilitate site HR program updates and training.
  • The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive


Training & Experience

  • Post-secondary education required, degree or diploma in Human Resources preferred
  • Attained or working towards a CHRP designation an asset but not required
  • Minimum 2-5 years Human Resources experience
  • Advanced computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft office suite
  • Demonstrated client service orientation
  • Highly detail-oriented and able to prioritize to ensure deadlines are met
  • Demonstrated presentation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to advise and coach employees at various leadership levels
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Experience in Heavy industries, including mining or natural resources sector an asset


Working Conditions

  • This position is located in Timmins, ON. As a result, if you do not live in the area, relocation would be required.
  • The schedule for the position is 4 days of work, followed by 3 days off.
