About this role

What will you be responsible for?

The Asset Management Readiness Lead within the Command Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) deployment team will provide equipment mobile maintenance related direction, change management, planning, process and system changes, cross functional coordination and operational readiness for the successful deployment of Caterpillar's Command AHS on a fleet of 793 trucks. Using your previous experience with mine maintenance, equipment commissioning and maintenance planning, we will work closely with the site's current mobile maintenance and support teams, Caterpillar and Wagner Equipment. We will ensure AHS Asset Management requirements are fully integrated with all related functions, people, process and system aspects to ensure a smooth and sustainable transition of the project into operations to meet reliability and availability performance targets as automation ramps up quickly to deliver its full potential.

The role reports to the Project Manager - Command Autonomous Haulage System and is required to engage effectively with a wide range of partners from site - most frequently at Manager, Superintendent, Foreperson and maintenance technician level. It also requires close engagement with the site-based AHS teams from Caterpillar and Wagner Equipment.

Your role will consist of

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:

  • We lead the assigned work packages (AWP) safely, to scope, budget, schedule and quality.
  • We are responsible for Business Readiness activities related to assigned work package including a handover to "business as usual (BAU)" operations.
  • We deliver project status reports for (AWP) to AHS Senior Project Engineer at an agreed cadence.
  • We collaborate with internal Asset Maintenance (mobile mining equipment) function to ensure coordination and task delivery are aligned with the project and operational schedules.
  • Jointly, we are in charge of performance and compliance of contractors within function work packages to scope, schedule, cost, quality and Health and Safety plan, and terms/contract/agreement.
  • We handle the referral of the deviation of delivery time for project work packages, as required.
  • We approve expenditure within the package approved budget and in compliance of Newmont operating and capital accounting procedures.
  • We refer any decision or expenditure outside of budget to the AHS Project Manager or appropriate project/site personnel.

Your training, skills and experience checklist

Here is what we would need to see from you!

  • Relevant Trade Certificate as Heavy Diesels Mechanics, Electronics or Relevant Degree such as Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronic or Mining Engineering
  • 10+ years' experience in Asset Management environments in mobile plant and equipment in mining or construction
  • Including 3+ years' large fleet mobile maintenance supervisory experience on a mine site working with Caterpillar mobile equipment preferred
  • On board experience with MineStar, Fleet Management or VIMS will be highly desired
  • Technical proficiency; comfort understanding and discussing asset management concepts and experience understanding technical impacts on scope
  • Ability to integrate and maintain a complex electronic system on a machine using schematic models
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and techniques is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple teams, both internal and external, to cohesively deliver project scope
  • Ability to prioritize and maintain high motivation within a team
  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate positively with peers and supervisors
  • Experience with autonomous mining equipment preferred


Working Conditions and Location

Where you will be located!

This role is based in Cripple Creek and Victor mine, nominally working Monday through Thursday. Daily work hours need to be flexible to meet project delivery.
The position is expected to continue until Q2 2024 when the hand over to operations is complete. Opportunities may then exist to continue in a site based or central role with Newmont.
