POSITION SUMMARY:

As the Paramedic, you will administer basic and advanced life support and medical care at a remote pre-hospital setting at an underground hard rock mining operation. You'll start everyday organizing, scheduling, and prioritizing work activities to promote a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment. You will be called upon to work cooperatively with others as part of a team and encourage collaboration, trust, and openness among employees. To thrive in this role, you are able to perform first aid and life-saving measures under pressure and are ready to help those in need. We're on a remote location; you must know how to work independently as well as identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

•Training first. Every hire is provided MSHA training in the first 4 days on the job. We also provide department-level training on not just what to do, but safety, as well.

•You will assess nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures to be followed or need recognize the need for additional assistance.

•You perform BLS, ALS and other first aid and life saving measures.

•You initiate/maintain/administer vital signs, IV/IO infusions, patent airways, medications, bandaging, splinting, back boarding, and all other emergency medical skills as outlined and in accordance with Emergency Medical Services, State of Alaska

•You will assist in extricating trapped victims and transports sick and injured persons to treatment center via boat, float plane or helicopter.

•You observe, record, and report to a Physician the patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.

•You will drive a mobile intensive care unit to emergency scene.

•You will regularly clean, maintain, and resupply equipment, medical rooms, and vehicles.

•Safety is important. Every piece of equipment and each work area must be inspected before work starts.

ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL FUNCTIONS - Other Duties May be Assigned

•Assesses nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures to be followed or need for additional assistance.

•Performs BLS, ALS and other first aid and life saving measures: Initiates/ maintains/ administers vital signs, IV/IO infusions, patent airways, medications, bandaging, splinting, back boarding, and all other emergency medical skills as outlined and in accordance with Emergency Medical Services, State of Alaska and by the Company's EMS standing protocols and procedures.

•Assists in extricating trapped victims and transports sick and injured persons to treatment center via boat, float plane or helicopter.

•Observes, records, and reports to Physician patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.

•Drives mobile intensive care unit to emergency scene.

•Communicates with Physician Sponsor and other medical personnel via radio, telephone or satellite phone.

•Performs medical surveillance on employees for hazardous exposures.

•Regularly cleans, maintains, and resupplies equipment, medical rooms, and vehicles.

•Provides leave coverage for other MICPs on staff.

•May be assigned to conduct industrial hygiene sampling after being trained to conduct sampling.

•Provides weekend and off hours support in case of emergencies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience Requirements

•Certification as Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic with the State of Alaska; or National Registry Paramedic Certification with the ability to obtain a Temporary Permit or Provisional License in the State of Alaska

•Three years or more of EMS experience as an independent advanced life support (ALS) provider

•Current advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) and basic life support (BLS) certifications
