The Opportunity:

The Payroll Administrator is responsible for the administration of our Canadian payrolls. Working closely with our HR and Finance teams, you will ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, reporting and JDE updates. Performs various payroll and accounting tasks such as data management, responsible for the accurate and timely processing of the payroll and keeps employee information relevant to payroll purposes up to date. In addition, provides support to other roles with the department as required and is a member of the finance team.

The Payroll Administrator responsibilities include:
  • Process semi-monthly payroll for all salaried, hourly, and daily employees
  • Ensure all payroll changes are made accurately and timely
  • Review timesheets and work hours for completeness and accuracy and enter in JD Edwards
  • Compile all information in reference to summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and non-taxable wages for reports
  • Preparing relevant internal management reports, monthly and year-end reports
  • Process payroll and special payments as required on a timely basis
  • Respond to employee and government agency inquires in regards to payroll
  • Compile payroll data such as garnishments, sick time, vacation time, taxable benefits, and deductions.
  • Retrieve and assess information to resolve payroll discrepancies
  • Review and reconcile semi-monthly payroll accounting for accuracy and completeness, to ensure company compliance
  • Provide assistance as necessary for all internal and external audits related to payroll including employee deductions and other liabilities for month end reporting, journal entries and adjustments for review
  • Understand and report necessary changes to payroll operations by maintaining established policies and procedures
  • Full cycle processing of T4's and adjustments as required
  • Continually maintain current working knowledge of Employment Standards Act, as well current statutory regulations
  • General duties as required

About You:
  • At least five years of relevant payroll experience
  • Dependability in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills in particular
  • Outstanding data entry skills
  • Good knowledge of ERP systems (JDE/SAP)
  • Meet and uphold Certified Payroll Professional criteria (enrolled with NPI)
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Full Cycle Payroll accounting
  • Expertise Federal/Provincial payroll regulations and requirements
  • Knowledgeable about internal controls
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
