Dimensions

Significant contribution to the Hoyle pond Technical services and Operations teams with the goal of adhering to and progressing current production geology activities. Reports directly to the Production Geology Supervisor.

Purpose

Interpret, collect and compile geological information; communicate with and direct underground production crews. Provide support for the Mining Department, the Engineering department, for underground operations diamond drilling, for reserve/resource calculations and for data management.

Essential Duties

Expedite all geological duties in the underground operation including;
  • Mapping of face, back and walls, face and back chip sampling, grab sampling, and visiting active long hole stopes to produce stope reports
  • Give geological support to the underground operation, working closely with the mining supervision and operators
  • Provide direction for excavation to the mine operations development group
  • Assay validation, data entry, grade estimation, presentation of results and support to production
  • Maintaining of data bases for production and reconciliation purposes
  • Advice is given freely on ground control and other geologically related issues
  • Continual improvement of existing processes in both grade and ground control


Training & Experience

  • B.Sc. in Geology or equivalent
  • Registration as a Professional Geoscientist or eligibility for such registration is an asset.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in the underground mining environment proven leadership capabilities as you will be guiding the production department and making decisions with regards to production activities as required


Working Conditions

This is a site based position located at Hoyle Pond, part of Newmont's Porcupine mine site near Timmins, ON

The schedule is 7 days on, 7 days off.
