ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking to hire a Mine Certified MSHA Electrician to join our Centralia Mine team. The Mine Electrician will be accountable for maintaining all mine electrical infrastructure, performing monthly MSHA electrical inspections (facilities, cords etc.), completing all low and high voltage electrical work, and must oversee contractors installing new electrical equipment. The Mine Electrician will also be assigned to mechanical and operational accountabilities to sustain Mine reclamation and compliance work. 

This is a full-time, safety-sensitive union position under the IUOE Local 612B. The base hourly rate for the Mine Electrician is up to $35.41 / hour.  

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO (Responsibilities)

  • Safely maintains Mine electrical infrastructure; high and low voltage
  • Performs monthly MSHA electrical inspections (facilities, materials etc.)
  • Oversees electrical contractors to MSHA standards
  • Travels safely on gravel or rough dirt roads, and through mud or rain as necessary from one location in the open pit coal mine to another
  • Troubleshoot resolve electrical and mechanical issues
  • Assists with Mine maintenance work
  • Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and supervisor(s)
  • Ensure MSHA, safety and environmental regulation compliance

 

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU (Qualifications)

  • Possesses an electrical certificate
  • Possesses M.S.H.A. coal mine electrical certificate
  • Journeyman level electrician with a minimum of four (4) years experience
  • Working knowledge of N.E.C. codes
  • Exposure to working on and around low, medium and high voltage
  • Electronic and PLC knowledge
  • Allen Bradley, ABB
  • Terex MT 4400, 685 Haul Pac truck systems experience
  • AC and DC motor and generator experience
  • Coal processing and belt drive systems
  • Electrical construction
  • Remove welding experience
  • Light and heavy duty equipment maintenance a plus
  • Ability to work independently, self-directed and ability to make sound electrical decisions

 

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Able to work in high, confined and hazardous spaces and work at a face pace
  • Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written)
  • Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others
