The location of this role is the Hermosa Project site near Patagonia, Arizona

The Role

Great opportunity to join a team developing the first Manganese battery product mine in North America. The Project Engineer role is essential for delivering cross-functional deliverables in order to ensure successful completion of the Pre-Feasibility Study, Feasibility and eventually development of the Clark project. Accountable to the Clark Project Manager for the coordination and production work product of the Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS). Key relationship with Engineering Manager, Mining lead, Process lead, Permitting team, Head of Government relations; PFS consultants; Project Controls Manager, Project Contracts team, Procurement Manager; Project Director and Environmental Director

Accountabilities ( Include but are not limited to) :

Individual Accountabilities:

• Manage and direct the work that leads to single option definition for Clark PFS study.
• Plan activities required to complete PFS to meet South32 study standards and support development of various PFS deliverables such as: permitting documentation, funding request with internal and external entities.
• Interface with internal and external stakeholders, consultants, government entities and vendors to support project development.
• Assist in preparation of design documentation, technical reports, and study deliverable packages
• Assist in preparation of permitting and environmental supporting documentation
• Actively track open RFIs and prepare timely responses
• Assist in tracking engineering progress, schedule, and costs
• Assist in organizing, running, minuting, and tracking action logs for meetings and workshops
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports
• Check and confirm the accuracy of the work performed and the methods used by engineering staff
• Ensure that measurable, documented engineering QC/QA processes are agreed and implemented considering South32 type-C standards.
• Implement and manage document control processes.
• Coordinate the activities of the project engineering consultants and selected vendors to ensure timely completion of their respective work packages
• Spearhead various research and development initiatives to identify opportunities for improved outcomes including, where appropriate, value analysis and value engineering;
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Clark PM.

Qualifications, Skills, and Expertise:

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical/ Civil preferred) or science degree.
• 5 years+ mining study development, ideally in an engineering role;
• Drive company vehicle and be covered under company insurance.
• Ability to work individually or as part of a team.
• Self-Starter and good planning capabilities.
• Capability to work in cross-functional environments
• Strong English language written and oral communication skills.
• Strong presentation skills in PowerPoint.
• Relationship building skills: demonstrated empathy, emotional intelligence and cross-cultural effectiveness with the ability to achieve consensus and build alignment cooperatively.
• Maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct.
• Analytical, and capable of evaluating and solving various complex problems.
