Reporting to the Director, Investor Relations, the Analyst plays a critical role in supporting the strategic objectives of the Investor Relations team, the principal conduit between Teck and the investment community. Effective engagement, with sell-side analysts as well as existing and potential shareholders, is crucial to both broaden and deepen Teck’s value proposition.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports objectives of the Investor Relations team through the execution of the strategic plan, analysis, and reporting
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with sell-side research analysts and associates
  • Supports the maintenance of Teck’s consensus estimates model
  • Collates, reviews, and reports on sell-side research, valuation, targets and ratings
  • Supports peer intelligence gathering and analysis
  • Supports investor and analyst requests and queries
  • Assists with preparations for the annual/quarterly reporting and conference call process, investor presentations, as well as various investor events, roadshows and conferences
  • Working closely with the Director, Investor Relations, supports ongoing shareholder targeting, outreach, engagement tracking, reporting, and analysis
  • Assists in the preparation of an IR weekly update, and provide support on various internal presentations and analysis as needed
  • Develops strong relationships and collaborates with members of the business units, finance, legal, sustainability and corporate affairs, corporate development and market research groups on the preparation of investor materials

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate/graduate degree(s) in Finance, Accounting, or Engineering
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, equity research, investment banking, and/or investor relations; experience in the mining industry would be an asset
  • Enrolment in a professional finance designation, a CFA or CPA, would be an asset
  • Strong Excel skills, financial analysis, ability to report, manipulate and visualize data
  • Proficient in PowerPoint, ability to visually and succinctly communicate information
  • A team player who is detail-oriented, self-motivated, responsive, exercises effective time and project management, and acts with a sense of urgency
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a high degree of diplomacy and professionalism to foster and build relationships with internal and external audiences
