Job Details

The purpose of the Project Manager role is to be responsible for all aspects of multiple projects in various stages (concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility, execution) across several disciplines at the mine. The Project Manager will plan and designate internal and external project resources, prepare and maintain budgets, forecasts, and schedules, monitor and report progress, and keep all stakeholders informed.

Roster: 5 days on/ 2 days/ 4 days on/ 3 days – 9.5 hours

About our Operation

Our Red Lake Operation is located in an area where you will experience the best in Northern lifestyle, in the heart of a lake-studded, boreal forest region in Sunset Country. Red Lake is known for its natural beauty, abundant wildlife, and incredible Canadian fishing in the many freshwater lakes in the area. The Red Lake district is located 180 kilometers north of Dryden about 100 kilometers from the Manitoba border in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. It spans 42,000 hectares and has produced over 29 million ounces of gold since 1949. Our Red Lake Operation includes underground mining and processing complexes in Balmertown and Cochenour, as well as the Bateman Project. As Evolution’s newest asset and our first in North America, we are excited by the opportunities here.

 

About the role

The Project Manager role offers an exceptional opportunity to work with a versitile team on exciting projects at the Red Lake Operation. 

Key result areas in this role include:

Provides comprehensive specialized engineering and design services by establishing the design criteria, design computation and deliverables Reviews, investigates, and develops appropriate recommendations regarding assigned engineering projects Manages projects and serve as subject matter expert on large/complex site planning/construction, expansion, or modifications Evaluates and implements new methods and techniques for operational improvement Conducts long and short range mine planning capital projects  Contributes to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated engineering areas  Provides technical guidance to engineers and technicians as required  Implement mine design, planning and issuing driving layouts Review conceptual, mine design and project work and for accuracy, feasibility, and degree of completion Develop and maintain excellent relationships with contractors, consultants Schedule, coordinate and supervise contractor’s work Ensure targets are met; discuss and solve any operational bottlenecks Review schedules and implement necessary contingencies to meet project goals Maintain quality analysis and quality control records and work with contractor to control costs   About you

As a Project Manager, you will have a Bachelor of Science in Mining, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering or related and must be a Professional Engineer or meet all requirements to write the Professional Engineering Exam. It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:  

Alternatively, an individual with proven abilities and several years of directly related experience in the mining industry may be considered Demonstrated progressive experience in an Underground Hardrock Mining environment Ability to perform in coordination with our company values and vision

Company

 The operation comprises the Red Lake, Campbell and Cochenour mines over a strike length of 7km. The Cochenour mine is connected to Red Lake by a 5km haulage drift, with ore processed at the Campbell Mill.

Red Lake is accessible by major highways, with commercial air services to the mine from Thunder Bay and Winnipeg. Red Lake is supported by an experienced and highly-skilled workforce largely residing in adjacent towns of Red Lake and Balmertown and benefits from strong community partnerships with Lac Seul and Wabauskang First Nation Groups.

Mining at Red Lake is undertaken predominantly via long-hole stoping. Processing at the Campbell mill is via conventional crushing and grinding followed by gravity concentration to recover free-milling gold, with refractory gold recovered by floatation followed by pressure oxidation, neutralisation and CIL.
