Position Overview

As a member of the Processing & Asset Optimization Team reporting to the Team Leader - Maintenance Services, and work a two (2) weeks on, two (2) weeks off rotation at the Ekati mine site, the HVAC Technician will install, repair, and maintain in a safe manner a variety of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems including: air handling, cooling, heating, de-humidification, ventilation, air exchange, air cleaning, controls, and control circuitry.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance inspections, site surveys, replacement, and modifications as required;
• Set up and install new HVAC/R systems;
• Maintaining and repairing electrical components of HVAC equipment
• Removing and installing air quality systems
• Maintain walk-in boxes, display cases, freezers, ice making equipment, electronic, and automated controls;
• Maintain tools and equipment by inspecting for signs of wear and damage;
• Maintain documentation and ensure Halocarbon compliance;
• Mentorship of employees, trainees, and trades people;
• Always protect the safety and well-being of yourself and your co-workers. Follow all Company specific safety protocols and Occupational Health & Safety policies and procedures;
• Oversee and ensure that contractors assigned to your responsibility meet quality, cost, and schedule targets;
• Work with other trades in a flexible team environment to achieve best-in-class efficiency and productivity.

Education/Experience

• Journeyperson certification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning;
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent;
• Minimum 3 - 5 years' of experience working in maintenance in an industrial setting;
• Experience in servicing heating ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems;
• Experience with Siemens and Johnson Controls automation systems is preferred;
• Working knowledge of SAP and basic computer literacy with willingness to learn new computer skills;
• Ability to comprehend a situation and identify underlying causes, use knowledge and experience to tackle and solve technical issues;
• Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task;
• Class 5 driver's license is required.
