Position Overview


Reporting to the Superintendent of Planning and Reliability and working two (2) weeks on, followed by two (2) weeks off at the Ekati Mine, the Team Leader Fixed Planning is responsible for the safe, efficient, and productive operation of the Fixed Planning Team, both weekly rolling schedule planning and long-range planning.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Promote and ensure the highest level of safety in the workplace.
  • Ensure compliance to maintenance strategies and demonstrate safe work practices.
  • Effectively lead and motivate participation in daily pre job safe shift meeting and monthly safety meeting.
  • Effectively utilize and oversee the SAP Maintenance Work Management Process from work identification to execution and close out.
  • Supervise short and long-term planning of fixed asset planning and scheduling the work for daily work and major rebuilds of Conveyors, Crusher and Screen Systems, Pumps, Compressors, Piping, HVAC, etc.
  • Participate in the development of maintenance strategies.
  • Support department KPIs, project budgets and work towards achieving them and explain variances.
  • Communicate and ensure adherence to new, modified or existing procedures and assist in the development and creation of new procedures and work instructions.
  • Communicate Maintenance variances that impact the Mine Plan.
  • Manage manpower and training requirements.
  • Initiate and maintain open and effective dialogue with all mine site departments.
  • Develop and deliver cross-shift communication notes.
  • Communicate requirements for master data changes and master material requests;
  • Ensure compliance to regulatory authorities
  • Participate in weekly stakeholder scheduling meetings
  • Participate in the creation of OPEX/CAPEX budgets, participates in quarterly re-forecasts
  • Initiate and foster equipment and process improvement ideas.
  • Initiate cost saving measures

Education/Experience
  • Journeyperson certificate or Technician/Technologist is relevant field.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience, preferably in mining or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to Reliability Based Maintenance.
  • Experience and knowledge concerning Work Breakdown Structure and Critical Path Management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with SAP considered an asset.

Additional Information

Arctic provides travel to and from the Ekati mine site out of Calgary, Yellowknife, and other northern fly points.
