Job description:
General Role Purpose (brief description of this job)
Planner is responsible for demand management and inventory planning of specific stock lines. Planner coordinates the workflow and materials to meet requirements while minimizing inventory levels. He has to ensure accuracy on demand and forecast needs on inventory records, item usage history, and forecasting files.
Planner will monitor and maintain the departmental KPIs, special project control and execution advancements.
Qualifications (required for job) & Knowledge & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or an equivalent with combination of training or at least 5 years related experience.
  • Supply Chain credential desire (CIPS, APICS)
  • Postgraduate qualification - MBA preferable
  • Ability to manage large projects meeting financial, safety, and environmental goals.
  • Diploma or formal training and experience in inventory planning, forecasting, project management, project control, cost control.
  • Computer skills include proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, & MS Project).
  • Experience with ERP systems, particularly JD Edwards would be beneficial.
  • Fluency in English is required.
    Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables
    The following essential embedded knowledge will be assessed in the unit standard in an integrated manner:
    • Actively identifying risks and threats to safely achieving targets, establish and manage programs to ensure risk elimination/minimisation.
    • Maintain, update and improve document control procedure, master files (items, vendors, etc) records, plans and controls ensuring that meets formal requirements and standards.
    • The development and maintain of weekly and monthly production plans in line with operational targets for supervisor and management
    • Register system control which affect production.
    • Plan, budget, schedule and keep track of activities.
    • Develop the WBS for optimal execution.
    • Monitor daily compliance to plan and schedule, and report variances.
    • Plan ahead activities looking for risks and mitigate them by ensuring that all infrastructure requirements (auxiliary equipment, power, water, logistics, etc.) are incorporated in the plan, scheduled and executed in advance of operational plans/requirements.
    • Ensure a successful relationship with all stakeholders to keep information updated on operations planning.
    • Maintain and update Department KPIs.
    • Ensure documents are shared at key times to facilitate timely work completion.
    • Generate and maintain labor and cost analysis and forecast in coordination with Managers and Finance.
    • Support Supervisor and Superintendent develop inventory management plans for end user requirements including but not limited to forecasts, reorder points, MOQ & EOQ etc.
    • Analyze data and collaborate with Supervisor and Superintendent to determine and apply appropriate ordering, inventory, and replenishment policies.
    • Ensure good procedures and controls for the ordering of stores, materials and equipment optimizing Inventory Aging [Slow Movers, No movers, Obsolete]
    • Release purchase orders based on material requirements planning [ROP process].
    • Support inventory checks and audits to validate inventory accuracy; investigate & reconcile discrepancies & negatives.
    • Develop SOPs with end users to stablish
    • Control, report and reduce operational costs, and ensure cost consideration taken with all decisions.
    • Perform other related duties as required.

        Operational Requirements
        Cobre Panama is located in a remoto area. This exciting position is based on-site and will be focusing on driving and delivering operational accountability and ownership across various units at Cobre Panama site. Rosters and working hours may vary depending on business requirements.
        Environmental Responsibilities
        • Comply with current environmental regulations in Panama
        • Comply with the commitments contained in the Environmental Impact Studies and other additional studies in this regard, which apply to your area and activities.
        • Comply with the provisions of the Minera Panama Environmental Management System.
