Position summary
Downer has over 100 years' rail experience providing end-to-end, innovative integrated transport solutions. We are a leading provider of rollingstock asset management services in Australia, with expertise in delivering whole of life asset management support to our customers. Our capability spans all sectors, from rollingstock to infrastructure, and every project phase, from design and manufacture to through-life-support, fleet maintenance, operations and comprehensive overhaul of assets.

The position of Production Manager is responsible for:

• Project production-planning, material-control, and material movement logistic within the plant.
• Develop the production control management process and ensure the production control strategies are defined for each project and implemented step by step.
• Manage the interface with purchasing, warehousing, methods and production to ensure effective development of strategies to optimise the planning and coordination of work and material across the projects.
• Create and maintain necessary project data for new projects (e.g. manufacturing calendars, warehouses, work centres, order series for purchase orders, work orders etc.
• Ensure that production orders are scheduled and released according to the (MPS) Master Production Schedule and production line requirements.
• Monitor quality performance and strive for continued improvement in quality outcomes.
• Ensure risks are accurately identified, contained and countermeasures put in place.

Ideally, you will have the following skills and experience:

• Certified in planning and inventory control would be an advantage.
• Experience in Infrastructure and/or Manufacturing.

• At least 6 years' experience in production control.
• Experience in heavy engineering make-to-order project environment would be an advantage.
• Extensive knowledge of materials management as well as manufacturing processes and tools.
• IT-Systems, relevant KPIs, legislation, comprehension of project management and finance.

• A high performer with a broad range of experience and respect from peers. Has the ability to influence, motivate and contribute to continuous improvement.
