Job Description
A multitasking role providing support in Exploration Activities. The activities will take place in field and office. The incumbent works directly under supervision of the Geologist in charge of Exploration activities. Main responsibilities included, but not restrictive to:
1) sampling (surface sampling, trenching sampling, RC/DD sampling, Soil geochemistry sampling, rock geochem sampling)
2) sampling preparation (bagging, labeling, sampling dispatch)
3) organization (sorting sampling, core boxed and pulps)
4) data capture (XRF data, Mag Susceptibility).
The employee follows established Kinross policies, practices, and procedures relative to the work assignments.
Job Responsibilities
Includes but not limited to:
• Execution of general surface sampling processes, including trench sampling, RC/DD sampling, soil geochemistry campaigns, sampling preparation, bagging, labeling and sorting samples, core boxes and pulps.
• Responsible to apply all the QAQC guideline provided by the exploration department to support the sampling process.
• Maintains on a daily basis in a good working condition any tools that are used to fulfill the work. This included: hammers, saws, sample bags, vehicles, GPS, etc.
• Complies with all operating and HSE protocols and procedures in place.
• Prepares reports and complete documentation related to sampling process.
• Provides support in all activities relatives to sampling, sampling shipment, dispatch and sampling storage.
• Other duties as required or directed by the supervisor or manager, but not limited to: Niton data capture, core pictures, core cutting, basic survey duties, basic down hole surveys.
• Follows up all the Kinross SENISA SOP's and policies.
Education ,Experience and Skills
Mandatory skills and requirements for this position:
• Bac+2 minimum in geology or equivalent
• Proven experience of 2-3 years in exploration geology field activities and drilling.
• Effective problem solving skills.
• Medium level GPS User and mag susceptibility meters user.
• Minimum high intermediate PC user (Microsoft Office), Basic GIS software knowledge.
• Advance knowledge of geological sampling process in all stages, including basic knowledge of quality control sampling.
• Proven knowledge of Quality Control sampling and sampling dispatch.
• Proven knowledge of basic geotech core logging (recovery, RQD)
• Fluent English or French language skills (both verbal and written)
• Complete understanding of all safety requirements whilst sampling in the fields
• Good personal housekeeping is essential.
• Full commitment to follow up, respect all the Kinross SENISA Policies and rules.
• Ability to learn quickly
• Capability to read geological maps
• Ability to function within the time frame given and carry out all tasks as directed by his supervisor.
