About Mount Milligan Mine

Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.

Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.

Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About the Opportunity

We have an opportunity for an IT Supervisor to join our Mount Milligan Mine operations site.

This is a camp-based position, with a rotation of 14 days on / 14 days off, with a 12-hour daily schedule.

Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure and Operations, the IT Supervisor is a dynamic, proactive, innovative and self-motivated leader with an analytical approach and the ability to identify and solve arising issues. In this supervisory role, you will be responsible for the following:
  • Managing, implementing, and maintaining high-level IT and Communications system, including data and applications, telecommunications, radio communications, computing hardware, network infrastructure, and mining specialization systems
  • Supervising and maintaining the safe and high-quality operation of the IT & Communications team
  • Ensuring cybersecurity and data protection and privacy
  • Providing support to IT staff and all users in using existing systems
  • Researching and promoting new technology initiatives and opportunities
  • Building the knowledge, skills, and training of the IT & communications team
  • Minimizing disruptions to the system, and improving availability
  • Working with facilities and equipment in indoor, outdoor, and industrial environments
  • Training, mentoring, and coaching other team members


About You

To qualify, you must have at least 3 of years of experience in a supervisory capacity in an IT and communications role. Although not a requirement, formal education in a related field will be preferred. A valid driver's license with a clear driving record is also essential for this role.

The following skills and experience will be critical to successfully performing this role:
  • Comfortable interacting with a diverse team with varying personalities, in person, on the phone, and via remote tools
  • Able to prioritize and work effectively on multiple projects with competing deadlines and constant priority changes
  • Remaining calm and collected in complex, high-pressure situations
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently, with minimal supervision
  • Microsoft certifications, or similar (asset)
  • Cloud certifications, or similar (asset)
