Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) is seeking a Lift Planner for Construction Engineering Services (CES) in the KIE Denver, CO office. Looking for the ideal candidate to perform a variety of civil and geotechnical CAD production tasks using Civil 3D related to temporary structures supporting construction operations. The Designer should have at least 10+ years' experience in engineering plan production, and be familiar with current technical tools, software, and CAD best practices. Our CES group provides value to the success of our clients' projects by designing and building temporary works which are critical to quality project design, cost control, and construction excellence. The engineering design tasks our CES group performs to help Kiewit build projects include: Support of excavation, cofferdam design, deep foundations and dewatering, MSE / Soil Nail wall design, haul roads, working surfaces, bore hole analysis and other geotechnical related design support.

This position is based out of our Lone Tree, Colorado Office - Relocation assistance is available

Responsibilities

  • Develop tools and help manage lift planning/heavy haul initiatives across Kiewit
  • Gain experience in various temporary work types (Both Structural and Geotechnical)
  • Create and maintain high level relationships with Engineering Teams
  • Work with our engineering teams to self-perform structural designs for temporary structures (steel, wood, concrete, manufactured items, etc.) supporting construction activities on Kiewit projects in a timely manner
  • Develop proficiency and use Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D software to produce design for estimate and construction documents
  • Follow and assist in developing company BIM/CAD and quality standards

Future Responsibilities

  • Work with and help manage the KIE CES Denver, CO office team of Structural Designers
  • Work with and coordinate with other KIE CES offices to facilitate designs and share resources
  • Schedule and assign team design tasks
  • Coordinate with other KIE CES office Design Leads to enforce CAD/BIM standards, maintain quality, share resources, and operate in a uniform manner
  • Perform quality reviews of team deliverables
  • Participate in design reviews to evaluate design concepts and make recommendations
  • Provide design cost and schedule estimates to engineers
  • Mentor and train early career team Designers
  • Comply with all corporate manager requirements - Team performance and career development reviews, time entry review, compliance, etc.
  • Work with recruiters to fill open team positions and perform interviews


Qualifications

• 10+ years' experience in civil / geotechnical CAD design and production of design documents
• Associate degree in Computer Aided Design, Engineering Technology, or similar program experience
• Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D
• Ability to create and modify surfaces, alignments, profiles & sections required to document civil / geotechnical work
• Experience with advanced Civil 3D topics such as data shortcuts, style and setting customization and coordinate systems
• Ability to detail structural steel connections related to geotechincal designs
• Additional proficiency in Revit or Navisworks is a plus
• General knowledge of engineering principles and materials for civil / geotechnical work
• Read and understand construction documents
• Ability to clearly communicate and collaborate with Engineers and Designers
• Critical thinking skills necessary with the ability to plan and conceptualize
• Capable of recognizing conflicts and discrepancies with strong attention to detail
• Basic skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
• Construction experience is a plus

Base Compensation: $80,425 - $100,531
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
