Trafigura Group has an immediate need for qualified Paste Construction Miners (Timberman) at its Myra Falls Mine on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.  Myra Falls Mine is an underground mine operation located 90 km southwest of Campbell River, BC in the picturesque surroundings of Strathcona Provincial Park. Surrounded by mountains and lakes, the trip to the mine has some of the world’s most impressive views.

This is an onsite position and daily travel between the Campbell River/Courtenay area and the mine site is required. Bus transportation is provided. We are looking for Paste Construction Miners to join our Mine Operations team. Reporting to the Underground Mine Manager, this position is responsible for the preparation and installation of the paste line, construction of bulkheads, and ensuring adequate supports are in place.  This position will monitor paste pours. Additional responsibilities include performing general maintenance and repairs of the paste line. Underground mining experience is essential.

General:

• Knowledge & understanding of what safe production means. Work collaboratively with supervisory, maintenance & technical personnel and operators responsible for other processes, equipment and /or systems. Promote a strong Health & Safety Culture by always maintaining a safe working environment.

Role description:

• Installation of Paste fill pipe, hole inserts, brackets and associated paste pipe infrastructure Operate scissor lift, hand-held drills and install hangar brackets Installation of paste bulk-heads – pre-fabricated or constructed Monitoring of paste distribution lines, bulkheads and stopes during paste pours Scoop operation, welding, previous paste system & Shot-Crete experience will be favourably considered

Working Conditions:

• Employee will be required to walk on uneven surfaces. Must be able to lift 50lbs. Employees will be required to climb ladders, stairs, and conveyor galleys. Employee will be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Employee will be exposed to loud noises.
