The Role and the Company

The Mining Engineer role is based in Indianapolis, IN, and reports directly to Area Operations Manager.
 
What you'll get to do 

•    Assist in the overall extraction, processing, storage, and shipping of aggregates  
•    Analyze current mine performance and produce a cost-effective mine design for short and long-term mining operations 
•    Provide expert knowledge on optimizing drilling and blasting operations  
•    Develop cost-effective overburden, waste removal, and storage programs  
•    Evaluate and implement cost-effective blending, hauling, and crushing programs 
•    Verify the mine is being operated per the approved long-term mine plan and make corrections as needed 
•    Update mine reserve calculations annually to ensure sufficient reserves  
•    Conduct exploration studies for limestone and other raw materials including geologic review, drilling programs, surface mapping, and reserve estimates 
•    Provide technical leadership and expertise in evaluating and optimizing mobile equipment fleets in our mines 
•    Assist in mine permitting, and track permits to ensure compliance  
•    Ensure accuracy in mine production reporting and product inventory control measures 
•    Track compliance of all necessary permits with assistance from Environmental, Safety, and Health 
•    Collaborate in the execution of mine and reclamation planning, capital improvements projects, safety and environmental inspections, and periodic submittal of reports for regulatory compliance  
•    Interact with local, state, and federal agencies related to the mining industry 
•    Assist in training quarry personnel  
•    Provide geology expertise for technical due diligence concerning new acquisitions 
•    Support the re-naturalization and re-cultivation projects
•    Manage capital investment & key operational projects across the area. 
 
Essential Experience and Skills 

•    Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or Geology 
•    At least 2 years of experience in mine operations 
•    Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills 
•    Good communication skills  
•    Proficient with Microsoft Office 

Preferred Experience and Skills 

•    Site development, construction, and stone/sand/gravel processing   
•    Experience with relevant systems and software such as AggQC and AutoCAD  
•    Mine planning and land surveying
