Downer has been designing, building and sustaining New Zealand's infrastructure for over a century and is a leading provider of integrated services in Australia and New Zealand.

With over 10,000 employees in New Zealand, we work alongside some of New Zealand's biggest businesses, councils and government agencies.

About us

Downer is New Zealand's leading provider of infrastructure services to public and private sectors. We are growing our business through delivering consistent service, excellence and results and through developing inspirational leadership with our people and customers.

Our Christchurch Sealing crew are currently looking for a Tractor Broom Operator to join the team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy team, in an important role, crucial to the success of the operation. You will be rewarded with a competitive hourly rate, guaranteed minimum hours regardless of the weather, overtime rates and other penal rates, full protective clothing, all relevant industry training, PLUS the opportunity to progress in your career and a large range of employee benefits through local retailers. Join us as we build our future, literally!

About the role

In this role you will responsible for sweeping the area in readiness for the chip sealing team to arrive on site to complete chip sealing jobs and follow up providing post construction sweeps where required. Your days will be busy, hands on ensuring effective planning, delivery and quality control.

About you:

You'll enjoy working hands on and getting amongst the action. Ideally, you'll have had exposure to the civil or construction space. If you have experience in the sealing space, that would be a bonus!

Most importantly though- you'll be a team player, happy to impart your knowledge onto other team members and be motivated. You'll also be physically fit and enjoy working in the outdoors. Our crews do often travel too so you'll be willing to spend some time away from home, compensated of course.

In addition to this, you'll be:
  • Not afraid of putting in long hours on occasions
  • Keen and capable of learning new methodologies
  • Eager to progress your career and receptive to training and development opportunities.
