Overview / Responsibilities

Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Structural Engineer.Reporting the Manager, Civil / Structural, this position is located in our Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Mining & Minerals office. Our Mining & Minerals business performs consulting and EPCM services for many of the world's leading mining companies and is executing world-class projects on five continents.



Key Responsibilities


  • Provide structural design and technical support including calculations for concrete, structural steel and connection design, design drawing review, field investigations, and assistance with solutions for the construction or repair of industrial buildings, facilities and services
  • Write specifications, contract documents and proposals
  • Review and manage project scope, budget and schedule
  • Supervise, coordinate and direct the work of an engineering/design team
  • Review project documents prior to issue for scope and presentation; including checking for technical accuracy
  • Develop and maintain positive, sustainable client relationships
  • Coordinate and work with project managers and other discipline leads
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, guidance and technical expertise to the project team


Skills / Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in structural design
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) in the province of Saskatchewan
  • Comprehensive and thorough scope knowledge of struct ural designs and an understanding of industry codes, standards and construction methods
  • Material design experience, which includes experience in the use of structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and / or wood
  • Minimum 15 years experience working on mining and/or heavy industrial projects is an asset
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Team-oriented and creative thinking
  • Demonstrated abilities in cooperation and decision making
  • Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
