Skeena Resources Limited is a Canadian exploration mining company, focused on working towards the restart of the past producing Eskay Creek gold-silver mine with additional development projects in our portfolio, all located in Tahltan Territory in the Golden Triangle of northwest British Columbia, Canada. Eskay Creek was the highest-grade gold mine in the world when in production. The mine produced 3.3 million ounces of gold and 160 million ounces of silver at average grades of 45 g/t gold and 2,224 g/t silver from 1994-2008.

Job Title: Environment/Sustainability Projects Manager

 

Position Summary

Reporting to Skeena’s Director of Environment and Regulatory Affairs, the Environment / Sustainability Projects Manager is the primary position responsible for delivering the implementation of environmental & sustainability projects. The work will require strong collaboration across disciplines, between the site/non-site-based teams and with third party contractors in supporting the overall project evaluation, design, implementation and adherence to key milestones and deliverables. Contributing to revitalization of the Eskay Creek Mine, such projects may include reclamation trials, drilling and site investigations, implementing outcomes of audits/inspections, water management and other environmental engineering works.


Position Responsibilities

The Environment / Sustainability Projects Manager performs a wide range of duties including some or all the following:

  • Ensures sustainability projects are delivered on schedule and budget, and meet all technical requirements of internal teams, regulatory agencies, and Indigenous Groups;
  • Works collaboratively in leading multidisciplinary remote teams to implement projects and improve processes consistent with Skeena’s values and design principles;
  • Drive projects from concept to closure;
  • Manages reporting and technical reporting for internal and external (e.g., regulatory applications) requirements;
  • Works with the senior site management team to ensure resources and dependencies are identified and assigned to the project
  • Interface and communicate with various levels of government, stakeholders and local communities as required to implement Projects;
  • Develop relationships with our Indigenous partners and create meaningful opportunities including employment, training, and business development;
  • Supports risk analysis with project management and monitor and promote environmental, health and safety compliance and culture;
  • Lead, manage performance, hire, and retain, inspire and mentor personnel for overall success of Projects and the Company;
  • All other related duties.

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Solid understanding of the BC and federal regulatory requirements and HSRC code requirements, technical environmental studies, and mining project development;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-discipline environmental and environmental engineering programs;
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or diploma in a field related to environmental science/engineering is required;
  • Must have a Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ experience in environment projects implementation/ environmental engineering;
  • Must be able to interpret technical reports and develop action plans to address/implement recommendations;
  • Self-motivated and organized to high personal resiliency and fortitude;
  • Holds an applicable professional designation and can act as Qualified Professional.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science/Environmental Engineering is required, master’s degree preferred;
  • Over 7 years of related work experience;
  • Demonstrated experience leading and implementing projects, preferably within BC and mining related;
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills are required;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills are required;
  • Detail-oriented and able to perform in a high-pressure environment;
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other sophisticated software and analytical tools;
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others through effective verbal and written communication;
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects across an organization;
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

 

Working conditions

This is an Office based job, Monday through Friday. This job requires the incumbent to be able to work away from home occasionally and to be able to travel to Skeena’s remote project sites to implement projects.
