Kent is currently recruiting for an Oil Sands Mine Telecom/Network Engineer to work directly with the site Mine Automation Team in an operations-based role. This role will be based in the client's office in Calgary Alberta with site visits as required. Duties shall be carried out under the direction/guidance of the facility Mine Automation Supervisor.

How will you contribute to the team?

Suitable candidate must have experience with the following systems from an Oil and Gas Engineering Perspective:-

• Supporting Mine wireless networks
• Quality checking and design guidance for all Drafting and design
• Engineering approval (Authentication) of any required network/telecoms designs
• Oversee the design and configuration of multi path networks
• Design and support Radio LOS networks
• Working with third party contractors and suppliers
• Evaluating / supporting vendors and acting as owners engineer
• Completing RCA and driving solutions on all networking/communication issues
• Leading or assisting proof-of-concept
• Maintaining standards and facility documentation
• Able to work independently and as part of an integrated team

What will you contribute?

• Degree or Diploma in Instrumentation/Control Systems from an accredited University or College
• 8+ years of experience in a mining facility enterprise level network
• Experience in Telecom Networks such as;
  
  • 4G/5G LTE networks
  • Autonomous Haul Systems (AHS)
  • Wireless networks
  • Radio communication
• Experience with wireless network infrastructure is a core requirement
• Familiarity with automated mining applications and hardware
• Highly motivated and organized.
• An understanding of Oil sands Safety acts, regulations, and codes
• Registration through APEGA as a P.ENG/P.L. (ENG) is required for this position
