Teck is advancing many regional environmental projects, and we want your help! Come contribute to sustainable development and support our Road Rehabilitation Program and projects related to wetland enhancement and offsetting, high elevation grasslands and Whitebark Pine mitigation!

Reporting to the Lead, Terrestrial Science, the Coordinator, Terrestrial Science is responsible for coordinating mitigation and management programs, in support of operational reclamation and closure planning for habitat and wildlife, regional restoration project implementation, and terrestrial offsetting programs.

To be successful, we are looking for someone with strong interpersonal, and communication skills who can manage and direct multiple regional projects. This person has strong decision-making abilities with a proven capacity to find practical solutions. The ability to prioritize and organize multiple projects and see them to completion is vital. The person would also remain positive and motivated while working independently in remote locations.

In this role, you will support Teck's sustainability strategy related to achieving a net positive impact (NPI) on biodiversity. This is also an exciting opportunity to collaborate with a variety of departments and apply your skills across multiple operations across the region.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Support the development of project scopes and field implementation of terrestrial cumulative effects, biodiversity and wildlife field projects
  • Understand applicable permits, management plans, and associated regulatory requirements
  • Manage and supervise site personnel and contractors to ensure work is being conducted safely and in accordance with project scopes and safety plans
  • Facilitate permitting applications and regulatory submissions


Qualifications:
  • Degree or Diploma in environmental science or engineering, or other related subject area
  • Minimum five years’ experience in environmental science or project management
  • Technical knowledge of relevant federal and provincial environmental legislation, standards, and effective industry best management practices
  • Experience with environmental data management software, such as GIS - ArcMap, or other field data systems
