As part of the Maintenance team, the successful candidate will meet demands and complete work orders in a timely manner; installing, repairing, and fabricating materials out of metal; ensuring availability and functioning of required items; and ensuring safety and resolving immediate safety concerns.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to an Open Pit Maintenance Supervisor, the Mechanic is responsible for the following.
  • Maintain welds on various items using a variety of processes (manual arc, tungsten inert gas, metallic inert gas, brazing, Air Arc, etc.) (e.g. structural supports, handrails, decking, walkways, truck frames, Beds, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required items ensuring safety.
  • Install various items (e.g. safety devices, railings, barriers, re-wiring trailer lights, arc flash screens, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects safely and within established time frames.
  • Maintain shop, equipment, tools, vehicle, etc. for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required items and ensuring safety.
  • Coordinate with administration and other personnel for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.
  • Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Qualifications
  • Two (2) plus years of experience in maintenance of mobile, farm, trucking, aircraft, military, or support equipment preferred
  • Basic knowledge of manual arc, tungsten inert gas, metallic inert gas, brazing, Air Arc, etc. required
  • Ability to work safely and effectively with minimal supervision required
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of people required
  • Ability to accomplish strenuous physical labor under all weather conditions required
  • Lift at least 50 lbs. required
  • Proven safe work record with belief and value seen in courageous leadership model required
  • Ability to be an initial team member in a growing, fast paced environment, and support team in attainment of safety, environmental, equipment protection and production goals with a proven safety record required
  • Housekeeping standards are maintained to a high level required
  • Good written and verbal communication skills required
