Our Red Chris mine is located on the traditional territory of the Tahltan and we encourage qualified applicants from the local communities to apply. We offer several designated marshalling points within BC including Nanaimo, Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops, Williams Lake, Prince George, Smithers, and Calgary, AB.

Purpose of the Role:

Leads the IT and OT components of the Newcrest Red Chris Mining (NRCM) Block Cave Project team in line with Newcrest standards and industry leading practices.

We are seeking an individual for a hybrid opportunity working Monday through Friday at the Vancouver office with a WFH option two times a week with a transition to the Red Chris site rotation within 12 Months.

Accountabilities:

Technical


Demonstrates technical and conceptual excellence in anticipating problems and supports the team and plans, to deliver agreed goals to ensure the value of the business is maintained or improved:
  • Responsible for determining the IT and OT requirements of the Block Cave project
  • Responsible for identifying all hardware, software, and data communications of the Block Cave project
  • Responsible for the design and costing of the hardware, software, and data communications of the Block Cave project
  • Ensures the design of the hardware, software and data communications of the Block Cave conforms to Newcrest standards.
  • Ensures the design of the hardware, software and data communications of the Block Cave project integrates with the existing Newcrest Operations IT / OT
  • Project manages the installation of IT / OT equipment for the Block Cave project
  • Reviews (squad checks) relevant documents of each Block Cave project discipline for the IT and OT components
  • Ensures a level of continuity and integration over various phases of the Project
  • Documents technical outcomes of the IT and OT aspects of the Block Cave project

  • Ensures all partners, vendors, external parties are fully aware of industry, company and site safety processes and procedures; monitors the safety performance of contractor personnel and generates safety awareness in the contractor workforce

Leadership, People & Development

Demonstrates leadership with the highest professional and ethical standards ensuring all actions are transparent and in accordance with company policies, standards, and values:
  • Leads the IT / OT component of the Block Cave project
  • Collaborates with the Red Chris Newcrest operations to ensure IT / OT continuity between operations and the Block Cave
  • Directs assigned team members, contractors, and consultants.
  • Demonstrates the highest standards without compromise, supporting and living the company values

Qualifications & Experience:

Required and Desired Qualifications:
  • One of the following:
    o Qualifications in either information Technology, Operational Technology disciplines, Engineering or Applied Sciences
    o Trade certificate (RSE) in a related field (Electrician, Industrial Instrumentation Technician) an asset but not required or equivalent experience
    o Technology diploma in wireless communications and network administration
  • Minimum of 2 years experience within an open pit or underground mining operation
  • Working knowledge of IT and OT processes and disciplines including Instrumentation and Controls technologies, data historians, mobile and fixed equipment systems, radio systems, IT and Industrial Communications Networks, business applications, etc.
  • Experience with contract management. Familiar with procurement processes and document control management
  • Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills, as reflected in the ability to network in person and online
  • Advanced computer skills including working knowledge of SharePoint, SAP, Microsoft suite of productivity applications (Teams, Planner, Excel, PPT). Familiarity with Aconex an asset
