Description

Highly skilled employee who under limited supervision monitors and purchases electricity and gas for multiple company properties.

• Responsible for monitoring the use of electricity and gas for multiple operating sites
• Monitor weather, lightning and other safety related issues that may impact the power grid and other site operations
• Based on daily, forecasted, historical usage and other market factors purchase electricity and gas for multiple operating sites
• Act as point of contact for Power personnel, and other employees in the field
• Log in personnel to substations and other electrical distribution areas
• Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Four (4) years of experience with electrical plant production and electricity or gas distribution
• Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

Preferred

• High School diploma or GED

• Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
• Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
• Employee will be required to work in environments which may include exposure to extreme temperatures and humidity
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms
• Employee may be required to work rotating shifts, overtime, and respond to call outs in a 24/7/365 operation
• Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
• Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as allowed by applicable state laws
