Position Overview

Kiewit Industrial Engineering (K-IND) is seeking an Architectural Intern for our Lenexa, KS office.

The Architectural Intern will work within the Industrial Buildings Group as part of an overall project team overseeing the building architectural design. The Industrial Buildings Group is a diverse group of architects and engineers, as a part of Kiewit Engineering, Inc., and is responsible for all phases of the project life cycle for all buildings within Kiewit projects. The architectural intern will assist in managing fast paced projects including coordination and collaboration with project engineers and contractors for successful execution of building estimates, conceptual design, construction documents and construction administration.

Our rapidly growing Industrial Design Group, which includes process, electrical, controls, structural, architectural, geotechnical, and civil disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on EPC and design-build delivery of industrial projects in markets such as Food & Beverage, Consumer Products, Heavy Manufacturing, Industrial Buildings, Industrial Water and Utilities. We have specialized expertise in plant floor process design, packaging, refrigerated/frozen facility design, and ammonia refrigeration systems.

We are a high-performing team of engineers and designers that develop projects through the project life-cycle engaging exciting projects throughout North America. Our staff leads the industrial markets engineering process and collaborates with Kiewit's construction teams to approach construction-driven engineering with a focus on safe, cost-effective, and innovative designs that achieve client expectations and further Kiewit's legacy of excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing Architectural design standards, and procedures.
  • Prepare basic life safety analysis and code required calculations.
  • Review codes required for project design.
  • Prepare architectural construction documentation including drawings, and sketches.
  • Review "respond for proposal" (RFP) material for potential projects to document the needs, clarifications, and exceptions.
  • Prepare, communicate, and coordinate with the estimating team to win projects through developing conceptual plans, elevations, and schedules.
  • Communicate with other disciplines to coordinate design interfacing issues.
  • Utilize Revit in development of design documents.


Location

This position is based out of our Lenexa, KS office.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture.
  • GPA above 3.0 preferred
  • Experience in Revit, Microsoft Office applications, and Bluebeam. Experience in Navisworks is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
