Job Description

The primary role of the Mechanic Hoist Installation is to assemble, install, test, troubleshoot and repair hoist mechanical equipment and hydraulic systems.

Pre-employment Requirements:

  • Permis Général d'Explosifs or able to obtain one as soon as possible
  • FMTM Card - 1,2,3,4,5 & 7
  • Drug test
  • Criminal background check
  • Able to communicate in French


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read, work and interpret hydraulic diagrams, drawings and schematics and create/modify as required
  • Inspect, repair and replace mine shaft parts, such as cage guides, guardrails and cable
  • Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe and efficient manner
  • Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and to control equipment damage
  • The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.


Education and Work Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the installation of the following hoist components: drums, bearings, support base, ring gear, bull gear, break shoes and cover
  • QA/QC for all concrete foundations and embedded hardware
  • Be competent in the principles of fluid power, many types of hydraulic pumps, hydraulic fluids, hydraulic control systems and safety devices
  • Ability to multi task and work effectively
  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently


Health and Safety:

  • Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
  • Following Company health and safety standards and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to Supervisor
  • Responsible for the use of all safety equipment, i.e.Lanyards, warning signs and labeling, according to company rules and applicable legislation.
  • Responsible to ensure proper use of personal protective equipment.
