Role Details:

Reporting to the Unit Manager: Taxation, you will be responsible for ensuring all taxation affairs for the Australian Gold Fields group (Corporate Tax, GST, FBT, R&D, Fuel Tax Credits, Transfer Pricing and Royalties) are undertaken efficiently and effectively to ensure compliance with all legislative requirements while assisting with identifying and developing tax planning opportunities.

This role is offered on a 5 days on 2 days off roster (Monday - Friday) at our Perth corporate office on a permanent basis.

About the role:
  • Assist with management of taxation affairs for Gold Fields Australia (GFA) with primary focus on the Group's consolidated income tax return and tax effect accounting requirements for the Australian mines;
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of GFA tax structures and policies along with local regulatory requirements and implement compliant processes for GFA for all corporate, indirect and employment taxes;
  • Support the Unit Manager: Taxation with the compliance of the GFA group with all applicable areas of taxation of working closely with the Finance, HR, and Payroll teams on site and in the Perth office;
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the commercial agreements entered into and the taxation implications of these arrangements;
  • Provide timely and accurately researched tax advice to other areas of the Gold Fields business in relation to ad hoc projects including structuring, mergers and acquisitions, and due diligence;
  • Assist GFA maintain appropriate up to date tax corporate governance documentation.


About you:
  • Australian recognised tertiary qualification in finance/commerce/business
  • Chartered Accountant or Certified Practicing Accountant qualification
  • Extensive taxation experience in an operational setting with a strong working knowledge of taxation and financial/business process and systems
  • Ideally international financial and taxation exposure
  • Experience dealing with Australian taxation obligations in the resources sector
