BUMA Australia was established in 2021 to acquire the Open Cut Mining business of Downer. This acquisition included the transition of all people, mining services contracts, assets, systems and intellectual property from a business which has successfully provided mining and civil services in diverse locations and across many commodities for over 75 years. Currently BUMA Australia successfully manages operations across four sites and we have plans to continue to expand and grow.

BUMA Australia PTY LTD (Formerly known as Downer Mining) has been providing total mine services to the Millmerran Power Station since 2001 with the current contract through to August 2024. Located near the towns of Millmerran and Pittsworth, BUMA is responsible for operating and managing the Commodore Mine and associated activities.

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join our Commodore team. This is a permanent, residential position working a 7/7 roster. Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent you will be responsible for providing daily supervision to the workshop maintenance crew to ensure compliance with the maintenance plans and KPI's in a safe manner.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
  • Discharge HSE responsibilities incorporating the implementation and maintenance of safe system of work (planning, people, equipment, change).
  • Providing leadership to the workshop maintenance crews to achieve the maintenance plan.
  • Work to priorities as advised by Maintenance Superintendents.
  • Work with Maintenance Superintendents to ensure quality maintenance performance, including asset availability and reliability.
  • Effectively contribute as a member of the maintenance leadership team to help deliver department goals and outcomes.
  • Work with Maintenance Superintendents to ensure effective resource allocation (such as people, equipment, and resources) to meet maintenance work targets and schedules.
  • Track maintenance performance through supervisors and leading hands and ensure operational issues are managed and communicated in a timely manner.
  • Work with Maintenance Superintendents to review plant performance at the project (in terms of availability, breakdowns and backlog) and oversee the implementation of remedial or preventative action where necessary.
  • Monitor work of subcontractors to ensure it is carried out in accordance with business requirements

To be successful in this role you will require:
  • You will need to be hard working, enthusiastic, motivated and reliable
  • You must possess a commitment to safe work practices and continuous improvement principles with the ability to participate in a multi-skilled environment
  • Trade qualifications with extensive experience in the maintenance of mining plant and equipment
  • Demonstrated positive safety leadership skills
  • Effective people management and development experience and skills
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Work Planning and scheduling skills
  • Experience working for a medium to large mine operator (Desirable)
  • First Aid certification (Desirable)
