About Mount Milligan Mine

Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.

Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.

Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Mill Maintenance Machinist to join our Mount Milligan Mine onsite team. This is a camp-based position, with a rotation of 7 or 14 days on / 7 or 14 days off, with a 12-hour daily schedule.

The Machinist is an integral member of the Maintenance department and is responsible for performing assigned tasks safely and efficiently by regularly using various manual machines and hand tools. Work requires practical skill and knowledge, as well as journey-level experience.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Performing repairs to crushing, milling, and mobile equipment
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and performing precise machining operations based on project specifications
  • Working alongside millwrights and welders to complete necessary maintenance tasks
  • Making parts, using large and small lathes, milling machines, and drill presses, to exacting standards and tight tolerances by verifying dimensions using precision measuring instruments; calibrating these instruments to ensure accuracy; and inspecting and testing completed products to ensure they meet quality standards
  • Performing regular preventative maintenance inspections, and repairing equipment in the field or shop when required
  • Actively participating in various safety activities and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Documenting all work performed and problems found through clear reports


About You

To qualify for the Machinist role, you must have an Interprovincial Machinist certification, as well as a minimum of 3 years of experience as a machinist working in mining or a similar environment. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will also be accepted.

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints and assembly drawings
  • Good troubleshooting skills
  • Must have own tools
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds is required
  • Ability to weld (asset)
