ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. Meliadine is located just northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay. Commercial production began at Meliadine in mid-May 2019 and the mine officially opened at the end of June. This mine is our largest gold deposit in terms of mineral resources and we expect to operate it for at least 14 years. The site features a power plant and processing facilities, as well as a complete camp complex.


YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Mine Projects Engineer, the Mine Dispatcher is a member of the Underground Mine Department and collaborates with multiple departments of the minesite. You will be a central point of contact for underground, open-pit and E&I operations. The Dispatcher monitors the performance of mine production activities and and relays timely information to supervision to ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

Monitor Mine Activities:
  • Advise Mine Operations Supervisors on all activities being conducted underground; assist in maximization of resources;
  • Monitor personnel & equipment localization;
  • Active Monitoring of UG power consumption and swift response when abnormal values are detected;
  • Monitor underground pumps and water levels;
  • Liaison between Paste Plant and UG Mine Operations;
  • Monitor ventilation system and turn fans on/off as required;
  • Ramp Management and point of contact for all operation;

Material Movement:
  • Monitor material movement activities such as: loading locations, type of material, dumping destinations, etc;
  • Update reference data in Pitram based on weekly scheduling and daily line ups;
  • Provide support to operators regarding tablet functionality (troubleshooting and remote assistance);

Equipment Availability:
  • Real time monitoring of equipment status and validation of failure/ delay codes;
  • Monitoring and advise production team of inefficiencies (Availability, Utilization, Operator Performance, etc.);

Emergency Deployment:
  • Initial point of contact for all site Emergencies. Triages calls to Incident Commander;
  • Responsible for initiating underground Stench Gas in emergencies;

Reporting:
  • Data validation of activity entries in Pitram;
  • Generate daily and weekly performance reports and be able to explain the highlights, problems and potential future issues;
  • Compile the major delays and lost production time;
  • Show proactivity when identifying operational inefficiencies, constantly promoting a culture of high efficiency;

Other:
  • Initiate underground blasts as directed by Mine Supervision;
  • Help in the implementation of new technologies and aid in the expansion of the dispatch;
  • Help with special UG projects as required;


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • High School diploma;
  • Minimum of 2 years in underground mine operations or planning;
  • Demonstrate working knowledge and understanding of efficient mining practices, procedures and regulations;
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritize and work under tight deadlines on multiple initiatives;
  • Resourcefulness and creative problem-solving skills;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on the SPEEXX English language assessment.

Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English.

Your Work Schedule:
  • Schedule: 12-hour work shifts of 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and may accommodate to cover other travelling expenses.
