Position Overview

As a Superintendent, you will play a significant part in the success of Kiewit's Power District. You will function as a lead field supervisor and may have responsibility for multiple Foreman, and/or laborers/craft workers. You will be responsible for the safety, quality, organization, work methods, scheduling, cost control, conformity with drawings and specifications, workmanship, and assignment of work to accomplish the execution of the project, either directly or through the General Foreman/Foreman. You will also be responsible to maintain positive working relationships with clients, architects/engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, jobsite staff, and residing local/state agencies and other governing bodies.

This opportunity will support Power projects throughout NY State.

Responsibilities

• Manage the operations and responsibilities of underground electrical construction.
• Manage contract administration (subcontractor/field management meetings for communications).
• Collaborate and work closely with the assigned Project Manager on all aspects of field-related activities.
• Provide on-site supervision, oversight, technical management, and contract administration for construction-related operations, including the direct supervision of General Foremen/Foremen, oversight and direction of subcontractors, as well as other construction related personnel.
• Ensure timely project completion through ongoing project scheduling and controls, as well as the coordination of material and equipment deliveries.
• Responsible for all site activities, such as conformance to plans and specifications, quality of work, productivity, safety, and overall coordination.
• Assist the Project Management team with the development of the initial project schedule. Develop and maintain the project's three-week look-ahead schedule.
• Responsible for the development oversight, control, and enforcement of project site logistics plans as well as temporary facilities plans. Responsible for the oversight of the maintenance of said plans.
• Accountable for assembling, implementing, and maintaining the project-specific quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) plans and programs.
• Implement, monitor, and maintain all project control reporting measures including daily reports, cost reports, inventory, quality assurance reporting, accident and incident reporting, and Soil and Erosion and Sediment Control Reports.
• Manage and liaise all site orientations with subcontractors, vendors, etc.
• Responsible for the administration of Safety Orientations for all subcontractors and vendors.
• Conduct regular and diligent site inspections in an effort to check for OSHA violations, unsafe practices, and conditions. Responsible to stop and correct any unsafe conditions observed or reported.
• Have overall accountability for the interpretation and successful implementation of safety programs.
• Ensure all company, department, and technical policies, procedures, standards, etc. are fully enforced and adhered to, as well as the same for governing regulations (OSHA, etc.)
• Prepare and maintain all required documentation and records according to State and Federal compliance as well as company procedures. Communication with subcontractors and vendors about job/project status as well as upcoming responsibilities and schedule.
• Coordinate the on-site testing by third-party vendors., subcontractors, and inspectors (soils, concrete, steel, masonry, fireproofing, etc.).
• Coordinate and facilitate weekly foreman meetings (safety, work procedures, site storage, staging, production, schedules, etc.).
• Must maintain a clean and organized job-site, office trailer, yard, and records.
• Initiate and attend supplementary and regular meetings with clients for problem resolution and planning.
• Oversee and approve the monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections.
• Ensure that all performance evaluations and completed in a timely fashion for direct reports.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or 7+ years of construction experience with 3+ years being in a Superintendent/Leadership capacity.
• Substantial previous experience with underground high-voltage electrical construction installations.
• Must be a self-starter, highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes regarding Kiewit's policies, procedures, and software programs.
• Ability to identify and resolve any problems that may arise.
• Excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong experience in Leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration
• Abilities to access all areas on a construction project site
