About Mount Milligan Mine

Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.

Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.

Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About the Opportunity

Centerra currently has an opportunity for a full-time Project Manager to join our Mount Milligan Mine operations site. This is a camp-based position, with a rotation of 7 or 14 days on / 7 or 14 days off, with a 12-hour daily schedule.

Reporting to the Superintendent of Projects & Infrastructure, the Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing projects within the projects & infrastructure department. In this role, you will bring a deep understanding of innovation and industry-leading best practices, along with an established reputation for operating within a culture committed to safety, environmentally-sustainable operations, and to operating in a socially responsible manner.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Delivering technical-economic studies for assigned projects, and compiling and submitting project justifications as required
  • Developing resource allocation and procurement plans, and PERT/CPM-based schedules, while adhering to pre-set schedules and budgets
  • Creating and maintaining a project schedule which defines activities, sequence, dependencies, work effort, duration, and associated resource requirements
  • Developing and maintaining cost control and reporting systems of high quality for all Capital Projects
  • Securing, negotiating, and overseeing contracts with outside parties
  • Planning and managing internal and external project communications, ensuring the effective exchange of project information and deliverables
  • Identify, analyzing, prioritizing, mitigating, and communicating project risks
  • Promoting high standards of professionalism, integrity, and leadership with all key stakeholders, through lifetime of projects
  • Ensuring health and safety guidelines are adhered to in all projects
  • Overseeing the quality of all civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering designs


About You

To qualify for the Project Manager role, you must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant project management environment, as well as a degree in engineering, preferably in the Civil or Mechanical fields. The ideal candidate will also possess a minimum of 6 years project managing or engineering in the mining industry.

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
  • Successful track record of implementation and commissioning stages of projects in an international environment
  • Demonstrated experience directing internal and client teams involved in multiple activities
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, with appropriate risk management competencies
  • Skills and experience in mediation, negotiation, and presentation
  • Interpersonal ability to create relationships with a multidisciplinary workforce in all levels of the Company
  • Leadership aptitude that inspires others to do their best
  • Registration with EGBC as a P. Eng (asset)
  • PMP certification or similar technical credentials (asset)
