Costmine Intelligence is the cost estimating, data and research business of The Northern Miner Group and we produce an array of data, guides and analytical tools for all stakeholders in the mining industry. Costmine publishes up-to-date mining cost estimating tools and guides used by professionals to inform mining development decisions quickly and reliably as well as for economic analyses.  Mining Intelligence’s data application offers a wealth of curated global mining data used by our clients to inform business decisions, assess markets and for other evaluations. We are located in Spokane Valley, Washington and Vancouver, Canada.

Costmine Intelligence is working on several new data, research and modelling initiatives that will grow our business and we are looking for research analysts to join our experienced team. 

Role: Research Analyst
We are recruiting early-career research analysts with experience in a technical field to join our team of subject matter experts. Mining industry experience will be considered but is not required; we encourage candidates with a background in science or engineering, and an interest in the mining industry to apply. This is an exciting role that can offer exposure to all facets of our mining cost estimating, data and research business and while being trained and advised by our senior technical staff.

Main responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities for this position include the following:
•    Work with our team of geologists, engineers, and professional staff to maintain and improve our cost estimating, research and data products
•    Survey equipment and supply vendors, utility companies, mining corporate reports, government agencies and others by phone, internet, or in person for cost data
•    Maintain and update cost databases
•    Create and improve published mining cost estimating guides
•    Support data quality initiatives to ensure the highest standard of product quality to customers
•    Curate and analyse data on our Mining Intelligence platform, including compiling insightful reports from our vast database to create narratives and stories 
•    Work with clients to answer questions and provide support for our products
•    Co-author insightful, mining cost research papers
•    Other related duties, as they arise, necessary for the continued success of the business

Minimum Skills / Qualifications:
•    Undergraduate degree in a science or engineering field
•    Excellent mathematic skills, and attention to detail 
•    Ability and willingness to learn about new technical subjects and take on new challenges in new or adjacent subject matter areas
•    Advanced Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) skills
•    A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a professional setting employing mathematic and technical skills
•    Strong writing and interpersonal skills 

Must have authorization to work in the USA or Canada
