Overview / Responsibilities

Wood currently has an opportunity for a Civil WSS Engineer to build our capability and work closely with our client, Enter Engineering, on the Copper Concentrator projects in Uzbekistan. Almalyksky GMK (AGMK) is to develop a new copper processing plant (MOF-4) as part of the project "Development of the Yoshlik-1" deposit in Almalyk, Uzbekistan. The processing plant will treat ore from a copper-molybdenum deposit and the annual Run-of-Mine ore to be mined and processed is 60 million metric tons. Wood has been appointed by Enter Engineering as engineering subcontractor to develop the Bankable Feasibility Study of MOF-4 for AGMK.

This position has responsibility to provide onsite engineering and technical coordination between Wood design offices and the AGMK team. The candidate shall be comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment providing WSS (Water Services and Sanitation) engineering expertise. Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for executing technical consulting studies in mining & minerals projects, specifically MOF-4 and MOF-5, through the project development life cycle
  • Contribute the required study investigations and analysis to propose solutions for cost effective and best for project execution
  • Coordinate with local utilities, regional and municipal authorities
  • Deliver the required engineering deliverables and activities within schedule according to the agreed project scope
  • Provide watersupply and sanitation technical coordination of engineering queries between Wood and AGMK Engineering
  • Provide detailed and technical reports for inclusion into the required study deliverables
  • Conflict resolution of scope and technical detail between parties to ensure compromise and alignment is reached
  • Contribute to civil engineering design, scope of work documents and specifications in accordance with project, discipline, statutory regulations, good-practice and company procedural requirements.
  • Ensure technical specifications, contract specifications, reports, design criteria and other documents required by the project comply to local regulations and standards of the Republic of Uzbekistan
  • Provide alignment between the design specifications and the locally available materials of construction
  • Work closely with the global Wood offices and the client team to develop and deliver the project
  • Manage and execute the delivery of best practice process plant designs and associated services
  • Ensure designs meet required safety standards and actively participate in design reviews
  • Provide positive input and demonstrated leadership on HSSE and Quality Assurance issues within your area of responsibility.


Skills / Qualifications

  • Qualified in Civil engineering, specializing in WSS from a recognized institution
  • Fluent in English and Russian
  • Minimum of 5 years Civil design experience in the watersupply and sanitation industry within the project and engineering field
  • Technical interface experience
  • Knowledge of applicable Uzbekistan design codes, standards and regulations
  • Knowledge of Russian GOST standards will be an advantage
  • Willingness to work in Almalyk and Tashkent (Uzbekistan)
  • Excellent analytical, literacy and numerical skills.
