POSITION Urban Planner/Designer for Design Management Office

LOCATION : Saudi Arabia

REPORTS TO : The Project Director (who sits remotely, in London)

KEY FOCUS OF POSITION: On-site establishment, management, and operational transfer of a Design Management Office (DMO), in coordination with a multi-disciplinary project team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors Degree in Urban Design, Urban Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or other related built form environment discipline field (Bachelor degree essential, Master degree

preferred). At least 10 years of experience delivering urban design and urban planning consulting work, including within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or broader region.

THE ROLE:

As part of the broader Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) this position(s) will facilitate the establishment, ongoing operation, and transfer of the Design Management function in coordination with other individuals across related disciplines and workstreams. This position(s) will need to effectively coordinate between EPMO leadership, Hatch project leadership, and local public officials/agencies.

THE PERSON

Qualifications
  • b ackground in urban design/ masterplanning, architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, or other related built environment discipline (essential)
  • Postgraduate qualification in Urban Design (desirable)


Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in urban design or urban planning work
  • Experience in working with public sector officials in housing, urban design and/or infrastructure
  • Experience as a client’s representative in urban design exercises, including writing design briefs and managing consultants
  • Experience in developing and implementing project quality assurance/quality control protocols
  • Experience living and working in Saudi Arabia, or the broader region


Skills/Knowledge
  • An understanding of urban design issues and statutory requirements for designing at different scales and contexts
  • Ability to generate technical and procurement documentation and management of procurement processes, using the relevant technical softwares and tools
  • Ability to plan projects and initiatives at both strategic and operational levels
  • Excellent English-language negotiation and communication skills (verbal and written), including stakeholder consultation
  • Strong capacity for teamwork and interpersonal/social skills
  • Demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail and high levels of presentation
  • General design skills and graphic representation using design software
