Job description:
First Quantum Minerals is one of the world's biggest mining companies, employing over 20,000 people.
Ravensthorpe Nickel Operation is our flagship operation in Australia. Located on the beautiful south coast of Western Australia, we're just a short commute from the coastal community of Hopetoun. As a major nickel producer and exporter, we aim to ship up to 30,000 tonnes of nickel concentrate each year via Esperance Port.
Reporting to the Finance & Commercial Manager, the Procurement & Contracts Superintendent plays a crucial role in providing effective procurement of goods and services and contract administration. This includes identifying opportunities for cost reduction and functions at the Ravensthorpe mine site and supervision of the Procurement and Contracts Officers.

    Key Accountabilities
    • Provide a central point of reference for the business for all procurement matters.
    • Provide effective contract administration and oversight functions including the establishing and negotiating of contracts across the operation.
    • Manage all contract tender's including the preparation of invitations to tender, evaluation and execution of the contract (including creating contracts).
    • Negotiate pricing, Terms & Conditions and Value added Services.
    • Identify and create opportunities for cost reduction and value adding by introducing a collaborative approach to preferred supplier arrangements for both goods and services.
    • Implement and maintain effective and efficient commercial practices to ensure successful delivery of all contracted services including monitoring supplier performance.
    • Manage the purchasing functions to:
      • Ensure policies/procedures are complied with;
      • Meet and exceed customer requirements; and
      • Optimise business outcomes and provide value for money.
      • Manage the procurement and contract teams (some of the team works remotely in Perth office) and provide training and performance development.
      • Manage relationships and effectively liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders and ensure a timely and efficient service is provided.
      • Positively contribute, through strong leadership, and adherence to the company's Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
      • Carry out any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Commercial Manager.
        Skills, Knowledge and Experience
        • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Law, Engineering or relevant disciple is desirable.
        • Membership of a professional body (CPA/ICAA/CIPS) is desirable.
        • Proven experience in procurement and contract management with mine site experience.
        • Possess strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
        • Exceptional communication, relationship building and interpersonal skills.
        • Ability to work under pressure in a sometimes stressful environment.
        • Strong team player whilst possessing ability to work autonomously.
        • Proven supervisory skills.
        • Superior level of expertise in MS Office products.
        • Firm commitment to safe work practices.
        • A basic understanding of accounting principles.
