Job Title: Health, Safety & Environment Manager (Environmentally focused with Health & Safety leadership responsibilities)

Reports to: General Manager

Team size: 8-10 employees

Mine site: 500 workers

Location: Michigan, USA (Relocation support provided)

Salary: Circa $150,000 + Bonus + Relocation (Open to discussing expectations)

Roster: 4 days x 10-hour shifts

The Role: This is an excellent opportunity for a HSE leader with a solid background in environment and permitting in mining to join a truly unique mine site with a great global mining owner, if you have experience leading Health & Safety alongside Environment then this could be the role for you.

This company has seen many of its corporate leaders some from this mine site, including the VP Health & Safety and the VP of Environment, many of its current site leadership team started at an Advisor level and have progressed up through the organization into site leadership positions today.

Core Environmental & Permitting responsibilities:

• Assist and be key subject matter expert to all department heads across the mine site
• Regulatory reporting and compliance support
• Take lead on all permitting applications
• Lead, coach and mentor environmental team
• Corporate reporting and compile information and data for corporate sustainability report
• Key relationship, point of contact for environmental agencies - federal and local level
• Lead continuous improvement of the environmental department
• Mine planning support
• Develop and implement environmental strategy
• Land, Water and Air management
• Environmental monitoring program
• Lead mine rehabilitation plans
• Annual department budget

Key Health & Safety responsibilities:

• Oversight of Health & Safety activities on site both at the mine site and mill operations.
• Provide site leadership with a subject matter expert
• H&S Strategical thinking and leadership
• Promote and lead a zero-harm work culture
• Health & Safety training and assurance
• Health & Hygiene support
• Security and emergency response
• Key regulatory body engagement

Requirements:

• 7+ years Environmental experience with health & safety leadership experience in a mining environment
• Underground mining experience (Ideally)
• Experienced dealing with regulatory bodies at a state and federal level
• Mining Permitting experience
• Qualification - Degree in related field
• MSHA instructor certification both surface and underground (Plus)
• Certification in CSP, CIH or CMSP is desirable
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
