Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Bus Inspector to join our North American Infrastructure group within our Vehicle Production Oversight group, work will be performed at NYCT Bus Depots throughout all boroughs of NYC.
In this role the ideal candidate is a quality assurance professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well independently as well as in a team environment. ASQ certification as a Quality Engineer and/or Quality Inspector is preferred. High school diploma with technical schooling or Associate Degree is required. Additional experience and successful levels of responsibility may be considered as a substituted for technical schooling or an Associate Degree.

Base Compensation: $85,000 - $95,000

As the successful candidate, you will:
- Perform physical inspection of installed components and systems, on buses to determine that construction is in accordance with installation instructions, approved drawings, and the Contract specification.
- Clearly and concisely report all non-compliances against the specification and/or test procedures.
- Perform, and report on, significant production challenges.
- Acquire/Coordinate assistance with the LTK/Project Engineering staff to resolve problems or acquire technical input.
- Prepare and submit proper documentation upon completion of inspections & witnessed tests.
- Read and interpret drawings, procedures, standards and use precision measuring devices.
- Use your own vehicle to travel to bus depots as needed.
You bring to the role:
- An associate degree or a High School diploma with technical schooling
- A minimum of 5 years bus vehicle experience
- Recognized industry certifications, such as ASQ Certified Quality Inspector/Engineer/Auditor are desired
- Broad-based knowledge of manufacturing processes, and best workmanship practices.
- Broad-based knowledge of wire routing, crimping, & inspection of electromechanical assemblies
- Ability to work in accordance with approved specifications and drawings, changes or deviations as necessary
The following skills/experience are a plus:
- Experience working with an operating bus company, transit agency or a bus building industry inspection firm
- Experience with vehicle production oversight
