Position Objective

The Asset Protection Operations Superintendent applies and monitors the systems and functions to secure people, assets and property at the Porgera Operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Apply and monitor the systems and processes for the security of employees, contractors and visitors at the Porgera Operations, including the monitoring of all access points to and from the mine and on the Highway and HTL.
  • Manage the functions of the security units.
  • Monitor operations security systems and performance measures and formulate alternatives and improvements to systems and methods.
  • Implement operations security action plans to secure all non-high-security areas of the Porgera Operations, which includes mine, camps, airport, Highway vehicle escorts and HTL.
  • Ensure 24-hour Security Control is manned, trained and operating to optimal response systems.
  • Develop, implement and maintain procedures for operations security activities.
  • Work with line managers to ensure a high level of awareness by employees, contractors and visitors in relation to site security rules and procedures.
  • Ensure monitoring of the compliance with security procedures by employees, contractors and visitors to all areas and report on all instances of non-compliance.
  • Ensure an appropriate response to all breaches or possible breaches of security, ensuring reporting to the required standard and recipients according to the level of incident.
  • Manage systems for investigation and resulting outcomes, working closely with leaders where employees and contractors are involved.
  • Manage the PJV Reserve Police Unit and ensure effective interface with RPNGC.
  • Manage systems to ensure training of operations security teams is achieved to the required standard.


To be suitable for this role, you will possess the following:

  • Significant asset protection experience in Police or a relevant Military role.
  • Extensive experience in leading and coordinating teams of security operators.
  • Extensive experience in emergency and incident response, incident investigation and liaison with authorities in relation to people and property protection.
  • Knowledge of security operations systems and protocols in the protection of a large mine and minerals processing operation and associated satellite infrastructure.
  • Experience in managing department costs and budgeting.
  • Proven experience in training and developing a national workforce.
  • Certificate IV Training and Assessment (preferable).
  • Current Drivers Licence.


This position is open to Papua New Guinea Nationals and Expatriates.

Your primary location will be the Porgera Mine Site. For PNG Nationals the roster is a fly in, fly out rotation on 21 days on, 14 days off. For anyone who resides outside of Papua New Guinea the roster is a fly in, fly out rotation on 28 days on, 14 days off.
