Job title: Environmental Manager

Company: International Mining Owner

Location: Michigan, USA

Salary: Circa. $130,000-$150,000 + 20% Bonus + Full Relocation

Reports to: General Manager / Managing Director

Progression potential: This Environmental Manager role is with an international mid-tier mining owner, which has a strong ethos to internal development, several the company's corporate leaders at a Director and Vice President level, started at this mine site and have enjoyed regular career progression.

The role:
  • As the Environmental Manager for a large mine site, you will lead the strategy, systems, programs, permitting applications, regulations, and the team for the entire site.


Key focus:
  • Assist and be key subject matter expert to all department heads across the mine site
  • Regulatory reporting and compliance support
  • Take lead on all permitting applications
  • Lead, coach and mentor environmental team
  • Corporate reporting and compile information and data for corporate sustainability report
  • Key relationship, point of contact for environmental agencies - federal and local level


Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead continuous improvement of the environmental department
  • Mine planning support
  • Develop and implement environmental strategy
  • Land, Water and Air management
  • Environmental monitoring program
  • Lead mine rehabilitation plans
  • Annual department budget


Key Requirements:

  • Degree education in Environmental or related field
  • Mining experience - Ideally 7 years+
  • Environmental leadership experience - Ideally 7 years+
  • Mining Permitting experience
  • Collaborative
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experienced dealing with regulatory bodies at a state and federal level
