Our client, an Australian gold producer, is recruiting for an Engineering Manager for their flagship UG mine in northern Ontario. This role will oversee all engineering functions and managing mine operations, and is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, challenge-motivated mine engineering leader who enjoys he flexibility of a fly-in/fly-out rotational schedule.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor the engineering systems and business processes, identify and prioritize improvement opportunities and formulate alternatives and improvements to systems and methods
  • Coordinate and manage projects within area of accountability, to achieve completion to agreed quality, budget and schedule
  • Ensure LOM designs are provided at optimal times, maintaining & updating the economic model of the LOM plan weekly and quarterly
  • Perform conceptual studies on new ore bodies and/or new areas
  • Design infrastructure and forecast equipment and capital requirements for associated infrastructure
  • Complete economic assessment of mining options
  • Produce Joint Ore Reserves Committee Ore Reserves
  • Ensure accurate production reconciliations are completed as part of the end of month process, summary reports are submitted to relevant stakeholders and, any production improvements highlighted in the reports are promptly evaluated and, where practicable, implemented by the production team
  • Ensure safe, economic stope designs supported by detailed stope notes are prepared
  • Complete financial evaluations and optimizations of production activities to ensure the most economical plan is implemented based on available input
  • Regularly challenge, review and optimize mine production and ventilation systems using knowledge gathered from previous work history, literature, conferences and or peer discussions
  • Ensure all requirements of the appointed Underground Ventilation Officer as per Mining Regulations are dutifully undertaken
  • Ensure all infrastructure services (de-watering, ventilation, power, air, water) are maintained to ensure the safety and health of underground personnel
Skills & Experience
  • 10 years experience in mine operations Technical Services with exposure to Ventilation design, Rock Mechanics, Mine Design, Mine Planning (Short and Long Term) and Mine
  • infrastructure (Dewatering, compressed air etc..)
  • Common software (word processing, spreadsheet, database and Gantt Charts) as well as familiarity (or better) with mine planning software and ventilation simulation software.
  • Experience in conceptual studies on ore bodies
