Job description: Purpose of the role: The purpose of the Condition Monitoring (CM) Supervisor is to ensure that all condition monitoring tasks are carried out as per mining equipment maintenance strategies by providing the condition monitoring analyst team with direction, support, and guidance. This should be achieved within the confines of the mining regulation and company policies. Key Duties and Responsibilities: The specific tasks to be performed by the position holder will include;
  • Plan work execution activities for the CM analysts at least one week in advance and provide resource inputs and limitations to the planning team
  • Ensure all work orders in the schedule are carried out and correctly closed in the CMMS
  • Ensure all defects identified by CM analysts are communicated to the sectional supervisor/coordinator/planner through work request/order in CMMS and/or any other form of communication that is necessary to address identified equipment risk
  • Ensure that all condition monitoring data collected is stored in a well-organized manner that allows data to be retrieved at any time for analysis by any maintenance personnel with authorized access to data
  • Ensure that all required resources and tools are available to CM analysts for safe, efficient, and effective work execution
  • Manage calibration, minimum/maximum stock, and redundancy of special CM equipment and associated accessories
  • Liaise with sectional supervisors/coordinators to ensure CM tasks are carried out efficiently and effectively
  • Recommend and/or execute maintenance process improvements with the use of management tools including but not limited to 5-Why, Fault Tree Analysis, Fishbone Diagram and Visual Workspace
  • Plan and manage the time and attendance of CM analysts
  • Coach, teach and supervise CM analysts in soft skills and technical skills including, but not limited to, vibration analysis, oil analysis, non-destructive testing (NDT), and thermography on equipment under Mining Maintenance.
  • Manage skills matrix, compliance, and competence training of CM analysts
  • Escalate issues that should be known to senior management ensuring all personnel in reporting line have been adequately informed
  • Participate in workshop and equipment audits and RCAs to identify opportunities for improvement Qualifications & Experience
    • At least 3 years of experience in rotating equipment maintenance
    • At least 3 years of experience in practising condition-monitoring techniques including, but not limited to, vibration analysis, oil analysis, non-destructive testing (NDT), and thermography
    • A Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronic or its Equivalent;
    • Member of EIZ and ERB
    • Vibration level 1 certification
    • MPI level 1 certification Key Job Competencies
