Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. The Round Mountain Phase W Project is now in production, with first gold poured in May 2019.

Job Description

Responsible for carrying out a full range of engineering functions including, but not limited to: Mine planning, Leach stacking plans, pit designs, stockpile, road and dump designs, mine analysis and production reporting, financial reporting, LOM planning, pit optimization, technical reporting and cross training. Will have direct involvement and communication with staff from other departments.

Job Responsibilities

1. Provide mine plans, technical reports and presentation, which will be communicated to stakeholders and operational team.
2. Perform reconciliation of plans and identify areas for improvement.
3. Identify risks (production and mine movement, equipment priorities, rock type/alterations, geotech, dewatering, grade, manpower, etc.) and opportunities that may impact the mine plans.
4. Provide mine designs.
5. Provide mine and project schedules.
6. Design heap leach facilities based on metallurgy model and others constraints such as leach cycles, recovery models, material types and quantities, mining limitations, design criteria, and facility location.
7. Provide long-term heap leach plans, production schedules, and communicate to stakeholders.
8. Design access roads, ramps, and other facilities.
9. Control and coordinate designs and plans are properly implemented in the field.
10. Provide lime estimation for the heap leach facilities and manage the application rate to insure the proper pH of the facilities.
11. Maintain accurate records and files including Key Performance Indicators for mining.
12. Consistent exercise of discretion and judgment in job performance.
13. Communication/Information to operational departments, Mine inspections, presentation of plans.
14. Punctuality and regular attendance is required.
15. Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
16. Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
17. Work safely in all areas, identify potential safety hazards, and work with management to correct them.
18. Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
19. Perform other duties as required.

Education and Experience

• Degree in Mine Engineering or a similar field.
• General understanding of open-pit mining operations
• General knowledge of leach pad operations

Skills

• Prepare and present work in a professional manner.
• Must have solid verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and with others in a team environment
• Ability willingness to learn new skills
• Working knowledge and skill with computers utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software.
• Experience with Vulcan, NPVS, MineSight and AutoCAD is preferred.
• Working knowledge of surveying.
• Have a strong commitment to safe working practices.
• Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the physical demands sheets.
• May work holidays, shift work, and weekends as required.
